I am now a resident of beautiful Middletown, CT. I left Chapel Hill really, really early this morning at 2:15am, after just a little bit of sleep. Dan, Paul, and Cara were still awake to see me off. We said our goodbyes without tears. Somehow I got to CT crazy fast… the whole trip only took me 8.5 hours! That’s gotta be some kinda record. I only stopped once to get gas and go through a McDonald’s drive-thru for a sausage biscuit. I stopped by the leasing office and after 5 minutes and over $1k I had my keys. I took a few minutes to gaze about my new apartment. It’s very large for a one bedroom place. The walls are painted a nice beige. The appliances are pretty old but they work fine so far. The A/C is very loud but sure puts out a lot of cold air. The views from my many windows are very nice… lots of trees. Overall I’m very happy with my new place.
So I went out for lunch and did some shopping. I have a TON of stuff to buy. This apartment is bare. After getting back from shopping it finally, finally hit me. This is my new home. I’m not visiting. I won’t be going back to NC for months. It hit hard, too. I broke down. I hadn’t cried in a long time, and this was not just a tear down the cheek. Don’t get me wrong… I’ve already fallen in love with CT in many ways. I just hate that I had to leave behind all the people I love to come here. I was very happy in Chapel Hill.
But don’t worry… I’ll be fine! It’s just hard to make such a drastic change. Work starts on Wednesday so that’ll keep me busy and around new people — both good things.
Perhaps tomorrow I’ll take some pictures and post them for you guys! :-D It really is pretty around here.
I miss you already Fogle! I am glad you are getting all settled in. Hope every thing gets off to a great start!
Fogle, don’t worry man. You’ll be missed. Check in on your NC folks now and again. In the meantime, I’ll try to keep Dan and the crew in line. Jay
Moving away is definitely both exciting and sad. I always feel like I’m at summer camp for the first few weeks – like it’s not home. I guess it just takes some time to settle in. The positive thing about moving is that you only remember the good times you had and you forget any of the bad stuff.
Keep us posted on your new life.

It finally hit me today that I’m not going to see you again for a long time! It sure is easy to take people you see all the time for granted. We’ll all miss you alot. Be good…maybe we can play scrabble sometime!
With new places come new friends. Boston and Middletown are not that far apart. Send a line somtime (amydumlao@yahoo.com) and we’ll sort out the geography.
