It’s a boy!

This is just a quick post to announce the birth of my sister’s first child! I don’t even know all the details yet, but here’s what I know…

Well, I first heard around 8am this morning when my sister called from the hospital. She said she was having contractions that “hurt like hell.” I called from work around 3pm to see what was going on and the baby wasn’t here yet but the labor was progressing and at that time they expected it to arrive in about an hour or so. I called a couple more times after getting home from work but no one answered the phone! Then I finally got a call from my dad (my parents are with my sister) saying the baby was tall and skinny and was born at 10:41pm. I even heard it crying in the background on the phone as they were taking its footprints! At that point they hadn’t weighed or measured it yet so I don’t have those numbers for ya.

Can’t believe I’m an uncle now! Heck, I can’t believe my parents are grandparents now… they’re only 45 and 43! I’ll be sure to post pictures as soon as I get any. As we already knew, it was a boy, and unless they’ve changed their minds, its name is Devyn Gainey. Not sure what they picked for a middle name!
