Bird Photography 2020

Pictures of every bird species that I managed to photograph in 2020.

I took up birding as a new hobby this year. I attribute this to bluebirds nesting in my bird house (piquing my interest in birds) and to the need to get out of the house in a safe way during the pandemic. I have greatly enjoyed spending more time outdoors and getting to know the personalities and behaviors of the birds. Getting good pictures is an important aspect of the hobby for me, but the pictures shown here vary greatly in quality. For some species, I have not been able to get a good picture yet! I chose one picture per species, with additional photos for juveniles and/or females where appropriate. I leaned toward "field guide" style photos (versus artistic) for this particular catalog. Most of these pictures were taken in the Triangle region of North Carolina, with the exception of coastal birds taken at Carolina Beach. My birding hobby started in earnest in June, so this does not represent a full year of birding - stay tuned for 2021!
